BEST GESSO TO PRIME WOOD PANELS
Updated: Dec 16, 2020
I've been oil painting since 1984 and I'm hear to tell you that Gamblin Oil Painting Ground is the best "gesso" to use if you are going to paint over wood panels. This stuff is super absorbent, which is what you want so that each layer of paint stays into your substrate. If you want your oil painting to last 500 years or more you must pick the right product and know the right process of application.
Never use this product on canvas. It is only for wood panels. There is another primer used for canvas that I will mention in another blog post.
